Throughout his long career, Hisaishi has worked extensively on music for film, anime, computer games, television and advertising. He also created the music for the 1998 Paralympic Games in Nagano. Hisaishi’s most famous works are for the cult films of Takeshi Kitano and, of course, for the anime of Hayao Miyazaki.
Joe Hisaishi is one of the most famous Japanese composers. He released his first album ‘Information’ in 1982. In 1983, Isao Takahata recommended the young composer Hayao Miyazaki to write the accompanying album for the manga Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. Miyazaki liked Hisaishi’s work so much that he invited him to write music for the film Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. Hisaishi’s work on Nausicaa made him famous. In gratitude, he worked on all of Miyazaki’s subsequent films.
